Jørn Utzon's former son-in-law, Alex Popov, designed a house further down the road that shares certain of Can Lis' characteristics. It was a visit to the Danish architect Erik Christian Sørensen's house close by that marked the beginning of Jørn and Lis Utzon' acquaintance with Majorca.
There are a number of good beaches in the area
Calo de sa Torre (the nearest), Cala Barca Trencada, Cala Bugit, Cala Mondrago and Cala Samarador were all haunts of the Utzon family.
Eating options are to hand in Porto Petro and in many of its neighbouring smaller towns.

There is a flourishing tourist scene in Cala Dór
Visit S'Alquria Blancha for its twice-weekly market and some very good restaurants.
The attractive town of Santanyi also has more than one weekly market and several distinguished restaurants, some of them on the square, as well as an interesting rectory at the end of the Plaça Mayor near the church.
Felanitz is the largest farming town in the area, with a delightful market every Sunday, good shops and many restaurants, as well as a particularly fine cathedral.
On the eastern side, past S'horta, Porto Colom has a handsome waterfront with some excellent German-run restaurants. It makes for a beautiful place in which to sit and relax. There is also a wonderful old town with a boatyard and a friendly café frequented by local people and superb beaches can be found on the other side of the bay.
Campos is situated on the road to Palma and has several good shops. Every Saturday, the market is held along the entire length of the inviting high street.
